ABSTRACT
6It is not possible to speak about the history of stress investigations in insects without mentioning the world reknowned, distinguished Canadian scientist, Hans Selye, 1 who dis covered this phenomenon as early as 1936. Selye 2 also put forward the concept of stress as a general adaptive syndrome and over 50 years provided voluminous literature on the ad aptation of living systems contributing immensely to this field.
