The use of Facet Theory enables explanatory models to be derived from data not readily amenable to conventional statistical analyses. Briefly, a facet is defined as “a set of playing the role of a component set of a Cartesian set.” 88 A less formal definition was offered by Brown, saying that a facet is a “conceptual categorization underlying a group of observations. 89
