ABSTRACT
1 During the last ten years Hungary experienced a socio-economic transformation, causing difficulties for the agricultural sector. The agriculture and the horticulture always had an important role in the Hungarian economic life. In our paper we tried to find answers to questions which occurred during the process of transformation. The main tasks will be to establish the conditions and facilities for high quality production; to use of integrated production methods (with a high level of irrigation); to solve the post-harvest problems; to establish purchase-sales co-operatives in order to strengthen producers entering EU market.
