ABSTRACT
The topic of legal responsibilities and liabilities associated with handling hazardous wastes and other hazardous substances is complex and constantly evolving, and forms the entire subject matter of several recent books and multivolume treatises. Because of the depth and bredth of this subject, I have tried simply to cover some of the major issues and to provide a flavor of this area of the law. This chapter is not intended to be, nor should it be considered, a definitive discussion of the topic.
