ABSTRACT

The past decade has witnessed the rapid development of methods for the transformation of plants and plant cells. One can now choose from a wide array of existing vectors, or alternatively, one can select an existing framework important to the transformation mechanism and incorporate readily available gene sequences in a vector designed specifically to one's needs. The choice of a transformation system and its accompanying vector(s) is really dictated by the purpose of the transformation experiment, and the reader is advised to be clear in this regard.
