ABSTRACT
Fresh-water input from rivers, surface wind, solar radiation, surface cooling, and external water masses all play important roles in determining the patterns of water characteristics and currents in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea continental shelf, but the region is most remarkable for the large tides along the west coast of Korea, Chinese coast, and for the complexity of tidal phenomena.
