ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the outcome of a study of, and experiments with, the interaction between a reliability model and the strategies for operation and maintenance in a decision support system for maintenance planning. Models for operation and maintenance are normally verbal in nature, while reliability models are numerical, based on logic and statistics. In on-line reliability analysis the reliability model will work directly on component reliability data and data for operation and maintenance. The main object of the work reported is the creation of compatibility between models for operation and maintenance and reliability models.
