ABSTRACT

Pressure injection grouting of lime slurry has been used for a variety of purposes. This technique has been used with lime/flyash slurries for prevention of methane gas formation and stabilization at sanitary landfills. In the landfills the grout is injected such that all or most of the void space is filled with the slurry. Gas composition was analyzed monthly for methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen. After sampling, analysis was performed using a Perkin-Elmer 900 gas chromatograph (GC). Volatile organic compounds were analyzed by GC/MS using EPA Method 624. The volume of leachate was measured and one liter samples were obtained for leachateccition analyses. Parameters measured in analyses of the leachate consisted of pH, alkalinity, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), total solids, total volatile solids and metals (Cu, Cr, Cd, Ni, Pb, Zn). These analyses were performed according to Standard Methods.
