Optimization of Sludge Conditioning for Recessed Chamber Filter Press Performance
The filter press has a number of advantages over other filtration equipment. It can operate well at variable or low feed solids conditions. It can produce very dry cake because of the high pressure differential it can exert on the sludge. It is mechanically reliable. The disadvantages include its batch operating cycle, the labor associated with removing the cakes from the press, and downtime associated with finding and replacing worn or damaged filter cloths.
