ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines what should, in the best of all possible worlds with reference to the traditional procurement cycle and offer some advice to help Project Managers procure reliable equipment in the most timely and cost efficient way. If a company is developing defence equipment as a private venture and hopes to sell it to Mathematical Modelling on NDE, then it makes sense to ensure that the actions are taken at the appropriate moment to ensure that Availability, Reliability and Maintainability is a demonstrable consideration in the design and development of the concept. Reliability Growth should be plotted throughout the development period and carefully analysed. It is not enough to provide the results of this analysis, complete visibility is required. The reliability models may have to be updated from time to time even to the extent of repredicting reliability to form a new baseline, inserting test results in place of predictions where appropriate.
