Research on the Impact of Drywall Between Households on the Floor’s Dynamic Characteristics
As occasion demands, drywall can be installed inside a room or removed during an architectural remodeling. Previously accepted practices indicated that drywall is a non-bearing wall and doesn’t impact the building’s structural system. However, research concerning the effect of drywall on the floor’s dynamic characteristics is actually insufficient. This study utilizes to a 2-story mockup structure to measure the floor’s acceleration magnitude, fundamental frequency and modal damping ratio according to the floor’s rigidity. Results indicate that a drywall between households reduces the floor’s acceleration magnitude and increases the fundamental frequency, which impacts on the floor’s rigidity.
