ABSTRACT

Numerical modelling of the baseplate connection using the finite element method is performed and the results of analyses are verified by experiments carried out on a specialized test rig. The analysis incorporates an elastic-plastic behaviour of a connection subjected to bending and compression. The analysed connection behaves as a semi-rigid one in the early stages of loading. So, the relation of the foundation influences the ultimate state of the baseplate. The bolts connecting the steel baseplate and concrete foundation are modelled by imposing constraints with possibility of monitoring forces acting in them. The results demonstrate good agreement between numerical model and experiments.
