ABSTRACT

This paper is concerned with the elastic lateral buckling and strength of sandwich beams. The sandwich beams of open cross section offer a competitive solution to structural weight reduction and to high strength resistance. A general numerical model applicable to lateral buckling of I-section of straight beam carries a uniformly distributed load. The beams carried out outer faces and inner relatively soft core.

Three-dimensional sandwich beams with solid finite elements are chosen in modeling elastic lateral buckling phenomena. The numerical analyses of the sandwich beams are considered using ANSYS (FEM) software. Results of the solution are shown on charts.
