ABSTRACT

The fibrinolytic system has usually been studied using global assays such as the whole- blood lysis time, the euglobulin lysis time, and the measurement of eugloblin activity on a fibrin plate. The results obtained reflect the balance between activating and inhibiting mechanisms and are influenced by the method of preparation of the test plasma. More recently, the different plasminogen activators, especially tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) have been intensively studied and specific assays developed.
