ABSTRACT
Most of the literature on the humoral immune response of animals infected with Brucella organisms concerns Brucella abortus in cattle. Hence, the immune response discussed in this chapter has most relevance to the disease bovine brucellosis, which for many years has aptly been referred to as "contagious abortion". As the name implies, the disease is very contagious, and frequently, the only clinical sign in cattle is abortion.
