ABSTRACT

The tsetse fly is often regarded as a despicable parasite, but there are some features of its life-style that make it appear a more majestic beast — a little lion on wings. These features make it feasible to control tsetse using natural baits, such as cattle sprayed with insecticide, or artificial baits utilizing synthetic host odor. The latter could either be traps or devices, known variously as screens or targets, coated with insecticides.
