ABSTRACT
Confus ion e x i s t s over t h e meaning o f t h e te rm "conserva t ion t i l l a g e . " I n p u b l i c a t i o n s and t a l k s t h e te rm i s used in te rchangeab ly w i t h minimum till, reduced till, 1 0 - t i l l , m u l c h - t i l l , n o - t i l l , e tc . Then t h e r e i s t h e ' c o n f u s i o n caused b y some w r i t e r s who use o n l y t h e two terms " n o - t i l l " and "conserva t ion t i l l a g e " . T h i s approach g e n e r a l l y d e f i n e s n o - t i l 1 as narrow s t r i p t i l l a g e and lumps e v e r y t h i n g e l s e i n t o c o n s e r v a t i o n t i l l a g e ( c h i s e l , t i l l - p l a n t , d isk, f i e l d c u l t i v a t o r , etc.) . T h i s approach s i m p l i f i e s w r i t i n g and d iscuss ion . b u t i s n o t s p e c i f i c enough as t o what c o n s e r v a t i o n t i l l a g e r e a l l y i s .
