ABSTRACT

Normal flowers of the Rosaceae family are actinomorphic and are characterized by 5 sepals, 5 petals, numerous stamens, and 1 compound pistil or many simple pistils. The number of styles equals the number of carpels. The flower parts are bom on a typical hypanthium (tube), bearing usually a nectiferous glandular disc. The petals arise from the rim of the hypanthium. 1 Details of flower morphology vary much within the family.
