ABSTRACT

The genus Anemone belongs to the Ranunculaceae and comprises about 70 species, most of them perennial herbs native to the cooler parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The flowers of Anemone and also those of the three genera Anemonella, Hepatica, and Pulsatilla, which are included in the genus by some authors, lack a corolla but have 5 to many petaloid sepals and numerous free stamens. The fruit is a group of 1-seeded, often tailed or appendaged nutlets.
