ABSTRACT

It is possible, therefore, that this type of Facet Classification Model of serial murder may provide researchers and police alike with a more heuristic and robust framework for classifying serial murderers. The model presented in this book also provides useful information for linking crime scene behavior and background characteristics that might assist profilers in drawing up more accurate offender profiles. The Investigative Process Management (IPM) afforded to the police by this empirical Facet Model could therefore assist in portraying accurately the actions of the most dangerous and highly elusive predator, the serial murderer.
