ABSTRACT

A translator is a person with specialized training in science and technology who has the ability to translate the terms and the concepts of his field into the language and experiences of everyday life. Translators close the gap that exists between science and humanity. Translators believe that their science is important, but that human understanding is even more important. Translators, primary leaders, and bridgebuilders are much more than they seem to be. A primary leader is, quite simply, someone who has a significant constituency who will follow him where he leads them. Primary leaders belong to one or more organizations, and they are usually the leaders of every single organization they belong to. Bridgebuilders are among the rarest creatures of God's creation. Bridgebuilders have the credibility and the standing to be able to intercede in an environmental negotiation. The bridgebuilder uses the respect and, perhaps, fear that he commands to make all sides negotiate in good faith.
