ABSTRACT
Azo compounds are one of the oldest industrially synthesized organic compounds. Azo dyes form a large group of synthetic colorants used in dye applications. These dyes are widely used in textile, printing, drug, and food processing industries. 1 The structure of an azo compound consists of the azo group (-N = N-) in association with one or more aromatic rings. Some azo dyes are classified as toxic compounds and suspected of carcinogenicity. 2
