ABSTRACT
The popularity of the inclined plate settler (IPS) can be largely attributed to the fact that they use significantly less space and cost less than a conventional clarifier. Most units also do not have any sludge rake mechanism that would require repairing, thus it is a simpler clarifier. The IPS normally also includes the rapid mix tank and the flocculation tank that are attached to the clarifier making a convenient package.
