ABSTRACT

An undercover agent meets the suspect and exchanges money for the contraband. A signal is given and covering agents move in to effect the arrest. Once the undercover agent has given the prearranged signal that he has received delivery of the contraband, the undercover phase of a case is concluded. In some jurisdictions, the cooperation between the police and press is so good that on an occasion the police will invite the press along on an arrest or raid. The suspect may have a partner accompany the agent while the original suspect stays with the contraband. The agent can give the suspect the time he will be at the airport without mentioning the exact time or flight numbers. As soon as is practical after the arrest, search, and seizure, the undercover agent should be allowed an opportunity to make the notes necessary for his final report.
