ABSTRACT

The introduction to Piety and Patienthood in Medieval Islam investigates the nature of the intersection of prophetic literature and narratives of sickness. It looks at how scholars investigated the history of prophetic medicine and its different stages of development, and proposes the book’s intervention in this historiography. This is followed by a brief description of the book structure and its different chapters.
