ABSTRACT

A sketch report produced during a meeting to explain the main landscape structures and project’s key elements assumed more importance than expected. The sketch, drawn in charcoal for the local community, was recorded by them as the ‘guardian’ of the main project structures. Unique objects from the place and topographic elements revealing the former uses of a site are some of the features that can be highlighted through a landscape project. Exploring further the scope of research on, in and for design clarified how important and significant it is to consider the multiple dimensions of landscape architectural design practice and the need to be aware of this in order to enrich a landscape and mature the design process. The landscape patterns in the region along the coast between Upper Normandy and Jutland are made up of distinctive forms that are under pressure.
