ABSTRACT

In this chapter the research on humour in organisations and the workplace is examined. There have been many changes to the workplace in the UK for social workers, few of which have had positive impacts on the working lives of social workers and in this chapter consideration of humour is located within the changes to social work organisations and workplace in the UK. The relationship between stress and work is considered together with the issues of emotional resilience, social work identity and the current context of social work practice in the UK.
