ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book explores the legal consequences of failure of both trust and Trust in the context of modern e-commerce or digital economies. It introduces the several types of trust and explores social relationships of trust in digital economies. The book discusses the particular issues impacting the management of Trusts where the corpus of the Trust includes crypto-assets on blockchain networks. It focuses on the way that the law is responding to the consequences of failure of trust and breach of Trust in digital economies, with particular focus on Australian and other Common Law jurisdictions. The book describes some key challenges that may hamper future efforts to ensure that trust features in both social relationships in business and in the legal institution of Trusts.
