ABSTRACT

The precise and accurate determination of material balance at the plant highly depends on correct sampling and appropriate sampling protocols. Using this information it becomes possible to reconcile the information given by the miners to the information provided by metallurgists. To perform such a task it is essential to assess the tonnage that has been processed with great precision and accuracy. Therefore, the determination of the tonnage of material feeding the plant is essential, and is an integrated part of the overall estimation process. But, unfortunately, weightometers are notorious sources of reconciliation problems; as a result it is essential for the sampling expert to be aware that the accuracy of the tonnage fed to the plant depends on many factors.
