ABSTRACT

Note: A writer as frequently autobiographical as VW, and whose sources of inspiration have been so often traced to her personal experiences, invites criticism which often shades into biography, and biographies and memoirs of critical value. In this bibliography every attempt has been made to locate writings that are primarily biographical in matter, or value, in this subdivision, although discrimination has not always been easy. Similarly, essay collections which devote over half their contents to biographical material have been entered here. Many of the book-length studies and essays entered in subsequent sections, however, do summarize the life of VW, apply the biography to her works, or reflect her personal relationships with a number of her critics.
