ABSTRACT

This study examines the influence of degree and scope of internationalization on economic and non-economic outcomes. While the literature indicates that internationalization positively influences economic performance outcomes, we still need to know the association between internationalization and non-economic outcomes. We explore these issues with a sample of internationalized Indigenous businesses based in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada; and also perform several robustness checks of our results. We confirm that degree and scope of internationalization positively affect firms’ international profits. However, our results are unable to exhibit a significant association between internationalization measures and entrepreneur’s life satisfaction or entrepreneur’s happiness. Contributions to the literature and future research direction are provided.
