ABSTRACT

Several facets pertaining to technological transformation (TT) have been discussed above. They have included a review of initial conditions (Chapter V), economic growth and development (Chapter VI), structural changes in output, expenditures and foreign trade (Chapter VII), and motive forces of technological transformation (Chapters VIII, IX and X). An attempt can now be made to see how the whole process has unfolded. We will begin with a quick general summary of major ways in which the South as a whole has changed during the post-war period. Overall changes are useful for seeing a broad image.
