Structural transformation in the South

The incorporation of technological innovations, both physical and social, into productive processes not only raises the level of overall output but also leads to significant structural changes in various sectors of the societies. The driving force for these changes is the uneven growth of the different sectors. It is the common experience of development that factors operating both on the demand and the supply side lead to relative expansion and contraction of the different sectors.
