ABSTRACT

The woman of the Spanish Middle Ages and later centuries participated in the construction of society actively and some dared to write their vision of the world and their experiences as women. Man and woman collaborated in the progress of society. However, historically, women's commitment to the society of their time has not been recognized, nor has their contribution to the economy, politics, arts, philosophy and religion been valued. The role of the woman belonging to the highest level of the social elite suffered a setback throughout the Middle Ages. The campaign to prevent female intellectual production was still based on the usual premises: the intellectual inferiority of women and their status as lustful. The social and economic changes that took place in the Renaissance caused it to continue and even strengthen the vigilance on female family members.
