ABSTRACT
Este capítulo se centra en la noción de anticortesía (cortesía antinormativa) como una estrategia conversacional que aparenta amenazar la imagen del destinatario. Se ilustra con el análisis de wey y otros términos similares del español de México. Se exploran sus funciones con el propósito de explicar cómo la anticortesía se utiliza para fortalecer las relaciones interpersonales, mostrar agresión y afecto verbal y jugar con el lenguaje. Se pone de manifiesto, por último, que tanto el empleo de formas anticorteses en el español coloquial como la comprensión y evaluación de la anticortesía dependen de la situación social, del contexto y de la relación entre los interlocutores.
Abstract in English
This chapter examines the notion of anticortesía (anti-normative politeness) as a conversational strategy which seemingly threatens the face of the addressee. Its use is illustrated through the analysis of the term wey and a few other similar forms from Mexican Spanish. An analysis of the functions of wey is offered in order to explain how anticortesía is employed to strengthen interpersonal relationships, show aggression, demonstrate verbal affect and engage in language play. Finally, it is emphasized that the use of anticortesía forms within colloquial Spanish, and its interpretation and evaluation, depend on the social situation, the context and the relationship between the interactants.
