ABSTRACT
Este capítulo se centra en el uso de los vocativos en español. Se ilustra un enfoque de estudio y los usos y funciones de los vocativos con referencia al habla de los adolescentes en el mundo hispánico. Los datos que se analizan provienen de conversaciones espontáneas cotidianas entre adolescentes, extraídas de tres subcorpus del Corpus Oral de Lenguaje Adolescente (COLA): COLAm (Madrid), COLAba (Buenos Aires) y COLAs (Santiago de Chile). Tras identificar los vocativos de uso más frecuente en los tres corpus, se muestra cómo hacer comparaciones para examinar las posibles variaciones regionales en su empleo. Se examina igualmente cuándo se usan los vocativos identificados y quiénes son los usuarios más frecuentes. Se considera también el empleo de vocativos en la conversación en relación con su posición en el enunciado (Leech, 1999), y se consideran además los usos más recientes de algunos de ellos.

This chapter focuses on the use of vocatives in Spanish. It illustrates an approach to their study and the uses and functions of vocatives with reference to teenage talk in the Spanish-speaking world. The data analyzed come from daily spontaneous conversations among teenagers, extracted from three sub-corpora of Corpus oral de lenguaje adolescente (COLA): COLAm (Madrid), COLAba (Buenos Aires) and COLAs (Santiago de Chile). After identifying the vocatives most frequently employed in the three corpora, the analysis shows how to make comparisons to examine possible regional variations in their use. It looks at, for example, when the identified vocatives are employed and who are the most frequent users. It also considers the use of vocatives in conversation in relation to their position in an utterance (Leech, 1999), as well as their most recent uses.
