ABSTRACT
Freedom of association involves the right of individuals to form associations and to act together to promote the association’s interests in various ways including by peaceful assembly and protest. 1 Individuals have the right to join such associations in accordance with their rules and indeed the right to leave them. However, there are standard limits on what associations can be formed and how they can act. These are limits that liberal states recognize as much as non-liberal states.
