ABSTRACT

In this chapter we explore the unique needs of people who identify as gay, lesbian and bi as well as those who engage in kink and those in ChemSex communities. Whilst little professional research has been done on sex and porn addiction within these client groups, general information and advice is offered to ensure therapy is GSRD (Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diverse) affirmative. Information is also provided to help MSM (Men who Sleep with Men) who identify as heterosexual and wish to consider their orientation using Kort’s six areas of exploration. Paraphilias and fetish behaviours, which are common within sex and porn addiction, are investigated under the heading of kink and information provided to help clinicians and clients understand if the kink is significant. The section on ChemSex will be helpful for anyone working with this community who fears the behaviour is compulsive and may be developing into an addiction.
