ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 introduces the concept of ‘flow’. Flow is characterized by being fully absorbed in an activity. There is a loss of sense of time. This enables an effortless flow of energy, leading a person to enjoy the execution of the activity. Being in flow is an optimal experience and not dependent on education, age, or social standing. Flow arises when we are able to focus on the activity; when there are clear, concrete goals to the task and clear feedback. Using strengths to do a challenging, meaningful activity creates an optimal context for flow. Various exercises are introduced to help the reader in developing and using his or her strengths.
