ABSTRACT

A conversation with Yim, Yat Kēuah; Angie Yu; Lily Tang; and Lau, Yin Fei Joyce of the Hong Chi Association. Angie Yu and Lily Tang are clinical psychologists, Joyce Lau is a social worker, and Mr. Yim is a service supervisor. The Hong Chi Association is the largest organization in Hong Kong mainly serving people who have intellectual disabilities. They operate in over 80 centers, projects, and hospitals for mental disabilities in different grades and different levels. The Hong Chi Association is the first to try animal-assisted interventions for those with intellectual disabilities. The animal-assisted intervention programs involve visiting and caring for cats and large land tortoises.
