ABSTRACT
Sugarcane is susceptible to a number of diseases that can greatly impact sugarcane production and cause very significant yield losses. More than 100 bacterial, fungal, phytoplasma and viral diseases are present in sugarcane growing areas worldwide (Rott et al., 2000). Some of the most significant diseases are illustrated in Fig. 1.
