ABSTRACT

The statement included the action the team wanted to take, the results it wanted to achieve, and the limits under which the decision would be made. Armed with a good statement of purpose, it was time to define the criteria under which the decision would be judged. Having explained the difference between the mandatory criteria and optional criteria, authors began their definition exercise. The team brainstormed and developed a great list of mandatory criteria. The team selected four resin manufacturers and was ready to continue the decision-making process. The team researched each resin manufacturer to define and evaluate any potential negative consequences or risks associated with each company. The team spent two weeks on this activity and discovered some legitimate risks related to each potential choice as a new resin supplier. The team is getting closer to making a final decision, but before it does there are several calculations that must be made.
