ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the issue of supervised learning (SL) and unsupervised learning (UL). For example, when a teacher organizes materials and then presents these materials to students, it is known as supervised learning. The danger of constantly providing our students with only supervised learning is that it slips the student more easily into becoming a passive participant vs. an active learner. When students learn by themselves, whether through trial and error, or in any other capacity, the source material is more likely to become embedded into the brain with the growth of new neural networks. The chapter discusses this approach that is the best way to learn. Likewise, it is most important to understand that each individual has a different process of learning and we need to give them the latitude to explore and find their own way, in a process that suits their own individual, and unique, brains the best.
