ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the DREAMS cluster-level communication services, Safety Communication Layer and secure communication services. The cluster-level security services secure the communication between the off-chip components. The application-level security services provide a secure end-to-end channel between the applications. Each cluster has a corresponding off-chip network, where the networks of different clusters can be connected through an off-chip gateway. The goal of deterministic wireless communication is the reduction of jitter and latency in the context of distributed DREAMS nodes that are connected through a wireless network. A cluster is an interconnection of nodes using the on-chip / off-chip gateways and the off-chip switches. In DREAMS, the nodes are connected using the TTEthernet technology. Time synchronization ensures that the time at the local clocks is the same at the same time in real time. Cluster-level communication services are used in DREAMS by the time synchronization services.
