ABSTRACT

The listening organizational context in which leaders and managers perform is described and the specific listening challenges they are likely to encounter are discussed. Career-specific cases are provided so that students can readily identify important listening outcomes and apply the specific skills they have practiced to this professional context and role. Cases in leadership and management include Case 1. Two for One, Case 2. Too Much of a Good Thing, Case 3. Gone with the Wind, and Case 4. Telling it Like It Is. Additional scenarios for discussion and role play, If You Were There, are also provided.
