ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at the concept of project management to fulfil a client’s business objectives, as the project manager works with the client to develop a suitable business case and describes the overall scope of the project. The business case will determine the choice of design solutions, shape how the project will be procured and identify the focus for ongoing monitoring and control during the project delivery and use stages. Client objectives for a new building project define the business case for it and lead to the development of a project brief. The chapter presents the context of decision making using stage gate reviews and a business case, and aims to identify and manage project stakeholders. Project objectives are associated with the efficiency and effectiveness of the project process. Project objectives also include managing people and creating synergy in the team to ensure that there is greater productivity.
