ABSTRACT

The author aims to inspire research that will re-humanize the identities and narratives surrounding young adolescents experiencing homelessness. Using the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001 as a defining anchor, this chapter presents the widespread severity of homelessness in statistical terms and reviews extant academic literature. The chapter concludes with a call grounded in the middle level literature for further work with and for young adolescents experiencing homelessness.
