ABSTRACT
Freedom is great but problems come with it. A common drawback of life in a system where one’s position is not forever defined by history, tradition, family, and class is a constant feeling of anxiety about one’s place in the world. Democracy, and its handmaiden, the market system, is such a system. In it, one’s place is up for grabs. A lot is at stake, a lot of the time.
