ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with a very sweeping statement which can be easily challenged. Once planning becomes boring, it stops being planning and just becomes a ritual. It effectively hinders or discourages any sort of fulfilment. Fulfilment in those circumstances can be intense but unsustainable and seems to be followed invariably by frustration. Collectively, the process of fulfilling individual talent gives rise to what could be described as corporate energy. Teamwork occurs only when the corporate energy of an organization is effectively engaged. Whether or not teamwork brings about the effective use of that corporate energy is difficult to judge and is perhaps not that important to practising managers. Planning, development of resources, sharing of values and teamwork are the component parts of the equipment needed to tap into that corporate energy. The positive hemisphere of the corporate mind is the part that signals ‘WE CAN’ in response to any challenge or objective.
