ABSTRACT

This chapter features an interview with Laura Eason, a Brooklyn-based screenwriter, playwright, and producer best known for the play Sex with Strangers (two years as one of the most produced plays in the United States, including productions at Steppenwolf in Chicago, Second Stage in NYC, and staged in Australia, Canada, England, Argentina, and Brazil) and four seasons as a writer-producer on the Netflix drama House of Cards (Emmy and WGA nominations, Drama Series). Her feature film debut, Here and Now, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and was released in theaters in 2018. Laura is an Ensemble Member and the former Artistic Director of Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago (2011 Regional Theatre Tony Award) where she’s been a part of more than thirty productions as a writer, director, and/or actor.
